Bucharest - Mogosoaia Palace - Snagov Monastery & Island - Bucharest

Snagov Monastery and Mogosoaia Palace are both valuable architectural jewels of Romania. Dating from different eras. The Monastery dates from the 15th century featuring original Byzantine frescoes from the 16th century, while the Palace dates from early 18th century marking the beginning of Romanian Renaissance.

Snagov Monastery: this monastery located on an island in the middle of Snagov Lake. It is said to be the burial place of the infamous Vlad the Impaler aka Dracula. Cross the bridge to get to the island and explore the church related to a man that used impalement as his trademark.

Mogosoaia Palace: is situated about 10 kilometres from Bucharest. It was built between 1698-1702 by Constantin Brancoveanu in what is called the Romanian Renaissance style or Brancovenesc style. The palace has witnessed over the centuries the tragedy of Brancoveanu's execution with his entire family in Constantinopole, the love affairs of Princess Martha Bibescu an important socialite during 19th century Bucharest, the World Wars and Communist era.
In the present, the palace hosts the Museum of Brancoveanu Art and it is an important tourist attraction. The palace and it's gardens are as beautiful as it's story is fascinating.
